Cherie Cahillane Bishop, DMD, is a general dentist and Invisalign provider. She was born and raised in Northampton, MA. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Saint Anselm College in 1990 and her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1994.
Dr. Bishop then completed a one-year General Practice Residency program in Dentistry through Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She also worked as an Associate in a private practice in Abington, MA. In 2002, Dr. Bishop became a founding partner of Hammond Pond Dental Group.
Dr. Bishop’s friendly, good-natured personality puts her patients at ease in the dental chair. She works to cultivate a long-term dental relationship with her patients where the focus is on the patient’s smile and oral health as a whole and not just treating a tooth at a time. She helps her patients to feel confident that their goal of a healthy smile can be achieved comfortably and affordably.
Dr. Bishop has taken numerous advanced courses through the prestigious Dawson Academy, the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education, and SPEAR Education, where she is a member of their Faculty Club.
This coursework has extensively furthered Dr. Bishop’s education in the areas of Esthetics, Occlusion (including TMJ Dysfunction), Complex Treatment Planning, Advanced Techniques and Materials, and Airway/Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Bishop has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, including smile makeovers and advanced whitening techniques. She also is highly skilled at implant restorations.
Dr. Bishop has completed numerous courses in Dental Sleep Medicine, most recently with Chark Education where she completed her SmartCare Certification level I. Working closely with a Board Certified Sleep ENT at Mass Eye and Ear, she fabricates oral appliances for patients with Sleep Apnea and Sleep Disordered Breathing using the most advanced digital scanning technology.
Dr. Bishop has remained very active with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, serving as a member of the Tufts Dental Alumni Association Executive Board, as well as the Tufts M Club Fundraising Executive Committee. She has volunteered for many years for the Yankee Dental Congress, serving as a Core Committee member for over 5 years. In January of 2021, she served as the General Chair of Yankee Dental Congress.
Dr. Bishop is an active member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, completing the MDS Leadership Institute in 2008 and serving as a Guest Board member on the MDS Board of Trustees for 2008-2009. Dr. Bishop also received the Massachusetts Dental Society’s “Volunteer Heroes Award” in 2009.
She is an active member of the American Dental Association. She has been inducted as a Fellow in the prestigious International College of Dentists (ICD) as well as the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an International Honor Society of Dentists. In 2017, Dr. Bishop was also nominated and inducted into the American College of Dentists (ACD). This was quite an honor, as only 3.5% of Dentists are Fellows in ACD, an organization that prides itself on Leadership and Ethics.
In her spare time, Dr. Bishop enjoys traveling, exercising, gardening, cooking, and spending quality time with her husband Wayne, their daughter Hathaway, and their chocolate Australian Cobberdog Teddy.
